On Tuesday, the state Department of Health will announce that a new drug to prevent erectile dysfunction is the first to prevent the problem. The drug, known as PDE5i, was originally intended for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. The FDA rejected its application, citing concerns that it could increase the risk of sexually transmitted infections, especially when taken in high doses.
The drug will soon be available to treat erectile dysfunction, but some experts worry that a similar drug might be a safer option.
The Food and Drug Administration is also considering a possible approval of the drug, but the FDA is not required to do so.
The FDA approved PDE5i in 2012 for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. However, the agency’s approval of the drug has raised concerns that it could increase the risk of sexually transmitted infections.
Viagra, sold by Pfizer, is the first drug to treat erectile dysfunction. It is currently the only one available in the U. S., and it was approved by the FDA in 2013 for that use.
Pfizer has already marketed the drug in the U. S., but the company is not yet sure how it would interact with the FDA’s approval of the drug.
Pfizer is not yet able to answer questions about why the drug is so popular with its own public, as it is not yet known if it can cause erectile dysfunction in women.

“As of this writing, Pfizer is not currently accepting new drugs for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.”
Pfizer’s stock is trading flat at $23.73, down 3% from its closing price of $28.50 on Friday.
The stock is also down 5% at $21.60 on Tuesday.
